Waterley

Brockenhurst in the New Forest

Waterley's Guest Book

When I get to Waterley the first thing I head for is the Guest Book. I'm getting addicted to reading all the comments people leave, seeing what they have enjoyed, where they have been and their remarks about the cottage.

I thought I would share them with you. So here we have entries for 2009:

Bob, Lisa, Lewis and Harvey. Fleet, Hampshire.

Spent 3 lovely relaxing weeks in this lovely family cottage. Try Sunday carvery at the Rose and Crown ... but get there early!

Julie and Richard, London.

Well, here we are again! Third visit, wonderful cottage as ever. Totally blessed by weather. Will be back. Lots of lovely walking.

Julia, Kingsley and Ethan. Godstone, Surrey.

Very lucky with the weather, had a lovely time walking, riding and drinking coffee (when Ethan 9 months would let us). Cottage is great, well placed and decorated - everything you could need.

Sophie and Carl. Gravesend, Kent.

Lovely cottage, everything you could want for a relaxing break. Excellent location, will definately return.

Tom, Lynne, Lewis and Rupert. Hove.

Our third stay at Waterley. Everything perfect as always (including the weather!)

Heather, David, Sadie and Thomas Strong. Chicago, Illinois. Syble Wasilowski, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

An absolutely perfect place to introduce our young ones to the English countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed all the green and wild life.

The double cheese souffle at 'Simply Poussin' in Brockenhurst will surely be a memory.

John and Barbara Neal, Guildford.

We've had a delightful time staying in this extremely comfortable cottage. The weather has been wonderful too. The highlight must be waking up each morning in a lovely sunny bedroom with such lovely views. First class accommodation. - Thank you.

Sean and Julie

Once again enjoyed our stay. Excellent country to walk, cycle and ride. Nice meals at the Bluebird in Lymington. Had a busy but relaxing time. Hope to be back soon.

Brian and Ann Gardiner. Jamie, Alix and Penny. Wymondham, Norfolk and The Wirral, Liverpool.

Our first visit here and we have loved it.

Exbury Gardens a great day out. Libertys Reptile and Raptor centre very child and baby friendly. Early dawn or dusk walk to deer conservation area is amazing.

Jackie and Jennie Shockledge. Dartford, Kent.

Our second visit to Waterley to recuperate and unwind. THIS YEAR WE HAD A HEATWAVE!! As ever we've had a restful time.

Great trips to:

  • Winchester
  • Salisbury
  • Bucklers Hard and
  • Lymington, The Ship Inn was great!

Thank you Ann, we will be back.

Susan, Steve, Anastasia & Jose Marsden. Derby.

Back for our second year. Lovely cottage, beautifully cleaned and maintained. Great walks and visited our favourite places inc. Mudeford Quay, Bucklers Hard, Lymington and of course riding.

Carol and Roy Appleyard. Herne Bay, Kent.

What a splendid cottage in a wonderful location. We loved the constantly changing animals on the green, the Motor Museum, Fordingbridge, The Rose & Crown, and the Snakecatcher with great food and the brilliant County Show [last week in July every year] We hope to be back soon.

Helen and Jeremy Neville. Wendover, Bucks.

This is a lovely place and have had a relaxing holiday and despite the generally unfavourable weather we've been able to walk in the area and soak up the atmosphere. We would have welcomed a dictionary for our scrabble games!

Terry, Jo & Jake Spall, Dorset.

We've had a lovely time staying in this cottage again and the weather has been perfect. Thank you.

Melanie & John Styles, James (6) Anna (1). Kingston, Surrey.

We've had a great week and felt very at home here. We enjoyed cycling both W. and E. of Brockenhurst. Going out from Balmer Lawn had easier and more flexible routes. Romsey Rapids is a good place for the kids if wet. And the Maize Maze at Exbury was amazing!

John and Wenda Rowe. Maidenhead, Berks.

A very enjoyable and comfortable week in this well presented cottage. It is a joy to watch the ponies and donkeys stroll past and just to cross the road to go for such splendid walks.

Jim, Daisy and Agatha Kyle. Teddington, Middlesex.

Perfect base from which to explore the Forest. Have a midday lunch at The Oak in Bank and then go Faery hunting at Furzey Gardens. If only baby Agatha had slept more! Wish we had booked 2 weeks!!!

Barry and Jenny Parkes, Birmingham

Enjoyed the visit. Pity about the weather - ideal for exploring the Forest and surrounding area. We shall return.

Graham, Claire, Ellis and Eve Wilson, Leicestershire

Really a home from home! Weather fab and we have had great fun. Thank you.

Graham, Amanda, Thomas and Sophie Lunn, Canterbury, Kent

A fantastic cottage and beautifully decorated. We have had a really relaxing week exploring the New Forest by foot and bike. Amazing weather too :-)! Love the curtains! We'll be back. Thank you Ann.

Stuart and Chris Andrew, Birmingham

Lovely cottage, will be back. Great advice about the circular walk into the village - did it every morning! The forest walks are what most people are here for, but try the Solent Way. Keyhaven is absolutely fantastic.

Alison and Andy Blackstone, Hillingdon, Middx

We enjoyed our visit to Waterley and the New Forest. The cottage was lovely and clean and very comfortable. The weather has been kind too! Our car broke down on Tuesday but this enabled us to do some great walks! We'll be back soon.

Celia and Eric Payne, Lincolnshire.

These last few days have been a surprise 70th birthday present for me from my dear wife. Having been born and raised near, but not in, the Forest, I have always dreamt of living in a small cottage overlooking the Forest so this has been a dream come true. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Waterley and look forward to returning.

Lis & Steve Cocks, Kent & Rose Bradley, Berkshire

A very comfortable cottage, nicely equipped with everything needed. Village shops have everything you want, great not to have to trudge round the supermarket!

Robert Bassett, Switzerland & Caroline, David & William Old Southampton

A lovely location, the local ponies were a big hit for William. We would also recommend the East End Arms for lunch, but you need to reserve a table.

Had a lovely stay. A great cottage in a fab location. Will certainly recommend it to friends and family.
